Crosswinds Field Remains Closed
All non-essential services are closed in the Province of Ontario. This order by the Province of Ontario applies to Crosswinds Field. To ensure the health and safety of members, Electric Model Flyers of Southern Ontario (EMFSO) closed Crosswinds Field for all flight activities. Please continue to periodically read this thread for more information about flying at Crosswinds Field.

Crosswinds Field remains closed, but maintenance for the 2020 flying season has started. On
March 28 debris was removed and the runway grass was trimmed. Physical distancing guidelines
were followed by EMFSO volunteers. For more information from the Ontario Ministry of Health

Some unexpected damage to the north side of Crosswinds Field occurred when the surrounding
land was tilled this spring. A few EMFSO volunteers have started to repair the runway and buffer
area. Work will continue for the next few weeks. Hopefully the runway will be as good as last year
in the near future. On a more positive note, the damaged area is not visible from the pilot stations.

That is, make your take-off run and landing approaches on the pilot station side of the centerline.....

Electric Model Flyers of Southern Ontario values the safety of all members. Crosswinds Field is an outdoor recreational amenity in the Province of Ontario. As such, Closure of Outdoor Recreational Amenities O. Reg. 104/20: Emergency Order under Subsection 7.0.2 (4) of the Act applies to EMFSO and Crosswinds Field.
More specically, the Act states: (2) Outdoor recreational amenities that are intended for use by more than one family are closed, regardless of whether they are publicly or privately owned and regardless of whether they are attached to a park system.
https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/200104
Hence, Crosswinds Field remains closed until May 19, 2020 unless the Emergency Order is extended.

Crosswinds runway repair continues. The damaged sod was flipped and leveled by volunteers,
soil in the buffer area was raked and markers were added to define the north edge of the runway.
Then a light application of grass seed was raked into the runway by hand. Now 15 degrees celsius
of temperature is needed to germinate the grass seed. The runway is starting to green up nicely.

Not that I'm planning on getting out anytime in the near future, but there is the folder and the posting about procedures if the field is open, and there was a recent e-mail pointing to making postings if we are planning to be out at the field. At the same time, the main website says the field is closed and then there's thread.
Can Issaac (assuming that he's the administrator) review the threads and bring them into alignment as to the current circumstances.
Me? Still working from home (though on vacation for the next week) and being super-careful as I'm a potential member of at two at-risk groups (being of a certain age and have had an auto-immune disease in my youth). Currently have three projects under way at the moment and getting twitchy about the semi-kits recently purchased and at least two of the kits previously purchased.)
Be careful, everyone!

To all Crosswinds Field members:
Crosswinds Field will open on June 16, 2020 for flying our electric model
aircraft. Listed below are the rules, guidelines, etc. that we must follow
in order to stay safe and protect ourselves from COVID-19. These are our
initial rules and they may change as circumstances permit.
1) If you have any of the symptoms that may be related to COVID-19, or if
you feel anything less than 100% healthy, please do not come to Crosswinds
Field.
2) Current MAAC membership is required in order to use Crosswinds Field.
3) No more than two cars shall be parked at Crosswinds Field, one family
per car.
4) Maintain physical distancing of 2 to 3 meters from non-family members.
5) Wearing a non-medical face mask is optional when using Crosswinds Field.
6) There are currently two pilot stations, indicated by two lines drawn on
the grass. (The three existing pilot station structures have been
removed.) A maximum of two pilots may use the two pilot stations
concurrently.
7) Guest flying is not allowed.
8 ) You must indicate, by using the EMFSO Forum booking method, that you are
going to fly at Crosswinds Field. A Crosswinds membership group has been
created, which gives you access to the Crosswinds Field discussion area
upon logging in to emfso.org. Reply to the "Crosswinds Field is Open for
Bookings" topic with a date, start time, and end time of the time slot when
you wish to fly. Time slots should not exceed three hours. Time slots may
be booked such that up to two members can fly during the same time slot.
Please complete your booking at least one hour before your time slot
starts. Field maintenance slots, during which no flying is allowed, will
also be booked using this method.

Crosswinds Field July 20, 2020 5:36pm and the hay in the field is baled.
EMFSO members:
Hay baling, and transporting the bales, is about to start in the fields adjacent to our runway. Please remember that we must not fly over people and farm equipment if and when present in the hay fields. Unfortunately, we can't advise when exactly such field work will be taking place. If flying over machinery or people in the hay fields looms as a possibility, please end your flying session and return another day. As always, safety first! Thank you kindly for your co-operation in this matter.
