905 Suadron and the swap meets -- going and what were your finds?
« on: April 28, 2019, 09:44:25 pm »
Bit late, by about 9 hours.Laptop bummed out this morning and just got things back to normal.

Didn't run into anyone except Merv while I was there, shopping rather than selling.

Did some scores that will use up some of my birthday money (not too proud to get money from my 90-year-old mother, considering that this is my 65th birthday) plus other cash lying around.

First purchase as an all-in except receiver and batteries of a FunAir40 for $25 off of his asking price.

Next purchase was from the guy selling a pile of EDF aircraft (not the one selling the new kits but the husband-and-wife team that had the two BIG (and I MEAN BIG) A-10s. Flying Styro Me262-A1 partial built kit, got $30 off that, which is now in my rafter storage, waiting for me to decide how to proceed and if I can convert this to a bungee launch rather than retracts and hoping for really short grass.

Last trip was right at the  end, after the draws took place, I got a Sterling Stinson Reliant for $25 off of the original price. This is the 31-inch version so it should make a good parkflyer or be gym-worthy but definitely not at Trisan.

The day got topped off when I won one of the four bottom-end draw prizes. Got another mini-quadcopter. Not sure if I'm going to fly in or not.

Not sure when Clair came around and dropped off the Formosa kit that I bought at the AGM back in March.  Thanks, Clair!

Looks like building card is now full so I'm not allowed to buy any more kits until I crash out.  Going to the dentist on the 11th of April and will scoot in to Great Hobbies and check out the receivers and battery packs unless I feel adventurous and change the connectors or create a patch cable for the connectors.

I already know what everyone's suggestion on the patch cables (DON'T!), but do have a general question on the receiver that everyone flying a Formosa uses.
