Clair, Do we have a supply of Formosa kits for those who are starting or want to pick up another airframe rather than rebuilding?
Thanks!

Bruce,
The EMFSO has one EPO Formosa kit available for sale at $40 or as a lucky draw at a workshop/AGM.

Hello:
Thanks to the club for the draw at the meeting. I was talking to the manager of Big Boys on my way home with the model and I think I might have sparked interest in another one for Air Racing. Tomorrow, I will set about ordering a couple of mounts in to the store for stock. I will also see if they have some suitable wood for the motor mount. I thought you mentioned spruce, Clair, but did I get that right? Let me know when the motor and ESC come in and are available. I think I already have a couple of servos that will be used in this model. An AR400 will be on my purchase list for the next time I am in the shop. Take care.

Don,
Once again... congratulations on winning the lucky draw at the December Workshop. The Formosa is an easy build and a blast to race.
Thanks for hooking up with Big Boys in Mississauga to have a few E-Flite motor mounts ( EFLM1915 ) available locally. FYI, Horizon Hobby also lists an EPS motor mount, wood stick by Grand Wing Systems, USA ( GWSAP076 ). Alternatively, try using a 10 mm x 10 mm hard balsa, spruce or basswood stick available at most hobby stores. Some shimming is necessary for a tight fit.
An RC Timer order will be completed soon.
Hitec 55, 8 gram servos or equivalent are a good choice.
Regards,
Clair

One item that was recommended to ensure a tight fit is maintained is to drill a hole in one side of the mount where it goes over the wood and into the wood a bit, then put a drop of CA into the hoel and immediately run in a screw. The CA will firm up the wood relative to the screw and act as a lock-nut as well.
Just make sure that the mount and wood are aligned and solid (at least two sides of the mount are against the wood, plus any shims on the other side(s) before drilling the hole.
Adds a bit more structureal resistance to things shifting around if there's any chance of play.
