GWS Formosa Time Trials... continued September 1, 2009
Glenn Nikolaiko Second Time Trial 33.8 seconds for two laps with and average time of 16.9 seconds per lap.
The Flying Start
The race director explained the flying start for the first race practice. Three flyers selected pilot stations and prepared for the flying start. The slowest Formosa, based on time trials, launched first. The second fastest launched second and the fastest model launched third. All models flew around the the first pylon and headed towards the second pylon. At the second pylon, the Race Director said,"Get ready to race!" The slowest model acted as the pace plane and crossed the start line first. Then the Race Director called "Let's race!" After three laps of excitement, all racers landed safely.
The Results,
Michael Rogozinsky won the first race practice and Isaac Murray placed second. Glenn Nikolaiko did not finish do to a mechanical problem, but landed safely without a propeller. A discussion of the race practice followed the event with the idea to make the next practice more exciting and fun with a minimum of rules.
Let's get ready to practice Formosa racing again Wednesday September 2, 2009 at TEMAC.
